Victor B. Lang
Baba

My name is Victor B. Lang.  I'm 57 years young.  I grew up in Savannah, Ga. and is the 7th of eight siblings.  I consider and describe myself as an educated, positive minded black American.  My parents were my heroes in life, for they instilled in me respect, discipline, honesty and courage, and most of all that of having integrity, and a genuine practice of working and getting along with all.

Upon graduation from high school I joined the military service and spent 18 years in the USMC obtaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (E-7).  The military service built upon all the core values my parents instilled in me.  My career was quite varied and at such a level of leadership one must know how to lead.  I'm quite excellent in people skills and enjoy working with others  in group settings and culturally diverse backgrounds; having traveled around the world.  Additionally, while in the service I was a recruiter for the Marine Corps which entailed going into high schools and working with parents and educators.

I currently live off my pension and am enrolled at City College in an effort to complete my education.  My major is Communication Studies.  I feel this is quite fitting for the La Jolla Playhouse.  Having no professional acting skills, I feel we are all on the stage of life and I think the best actors must have a level of understanding the total communication model from active listening to communicating, both verbally and nonverbally.

Lastly, I'm also involved in a non-profit:  Voices Of Our City Choir here in San Diego, an organization committed to working with and helping the homeless crisis here in San Diego.  I have made it my business to impart all the positive knowledge of life that I have gained in this world and to pass it on to whomsoever will listen!
